Blogathon: No Money to Donate?
I know many people who want to help a charitable cause but don’t want to donate money; however, there are many other things to donate. One way to help your favorite non-profit can be to donate your time. Many charitable organizations rely greatly on volunteers to sustain themself. Some organizations are built mostly out of volunteers. At the Developmental Disabilities Association, we also greatly benefit from our volunteers. We also benefit from and sustain ourselves through the donation of your un-needed clothes, housewares, and unused goods. We do free pickups in the Lower Mainland of clothes and housewares and we also have many donation bins across BC that you can donate your clothes to. By donating your clothes, you not only help fund essential programs for the developmentally disabled, but also help create global marketplace through the resale of your items at lower costs to those in need. In the past year, we’ve recycled over 7 million lbs of potential landfill material by reselling your unused goods. Help the developmentally disabled, help create global marketplace, and help our environment; 3 in one by donating your goods to the DDA.

Blogathon: Myths of Autism
I recently found another excellent blog on autism and the myths associated with autism. This blog is the Autism Change blog. Below is an entry from one of their blogs that I found particular interesting. See this link for the full entry.
There are so many autism myths floating around out there that debunking them often seems a constant aspect of advocating about autism. (And look out, too, for those autism cults.)
One myth that always rankles me is that autistic children don’t change and that they can’t; that a child will always be a two-year-old inside even when he is six feet tall. It is the case that it’s often not easy for my son to deal with a new situation or a change in circumstances

Personally, I feel rather disgusting sitting on the same spot for so long staring at my computer for so long. I also feel a little bit lethargic and could definitely use some exercise. Blogathon: Status Update
I honestly admit that after reading so many blog posts and writing 4 hours worth of blogs I’m a little bit short on blogging ideas. Because of that, I will be featuring more client writing in coming posts. I promise I’ll have some more interesting relevant blog posts up before midnight!
That aside, best of luck to everybody else doing Blogathon right now. Currently, there are 153 charities being sponsored by Blogathon with over $37,000 raised! The Developmental Disabilities Association is so far, one of the top fundraisers with almost $400 raised. I’m currently at Blogathon sitting beside Karen Hamilton, the owner of Tinybites blog and consulting, who is leading the fundraising efforts with close to $2000 raised through her blog! Amazing!
Each blogger above is very passionate about the cause they’re supporting. Check out their blogs and make sure to send some support their way! It’s 12:00am now, which means there’s 6 hours left to Blogathon with another 12 posts to come. Thank you everybody for reading our blogs. I’ll get back on topic after this one status update blog.
